A motorhome on a Mercedes-Benz chassis boasts the same technical perfection as a Mercedes car. These assistance systems – some standard, others optional – help you spot dangerous situations as early as possible and respond appropriately, especially on long journeys in heavy traffic.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC (optional).
Active Distance Assist makes your life easier by automatically monitoring and regulating the distance to the vehicle in front – not only in urban traffic, but also on motorways. The inbuilt sensors also help to assess the current traffic situation in order to prevent collisions caused by failure to observe a safe distance, coming to an abrupt halt or brief lapses in concentration.
Active Brake Assist (standard).
Active Brake Assist warns of a risk of collision with vehicles in front and pedestrians crossing the road. If the system detects a dangerous situation, it initially warns the driver by triggering an acoustic and visual alarm. If the driver recognises the danger and reacts by braking, Brake Assist helps them by applying additional brake pressure. If the driver fails to brake, the system automatically initiates emergency braking. At low speeds, this may be enough to prevent an accident.
Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (optional).
Correctly inflated tyres not only last longer, they also improve your driving safety. The Tyre Pressure Monitoring System uses a sensor inside the tyre to measure the air pressure and air temperature. If the pressure is too low, a display message is issued to alert the driver. This helps prevent accidents and also reduces both fuel consumption and tyre wear.
Attention Assist (standard).
On long journeys in particular, there is a risk of fatigue or momentary nodding off. Attention Assist prevents this by analysing your driving behaviour and using the results to create an individual driver profile. This allows Attention Assist to detect fatigue or lapses in concentration based on your driving behaviour and trigger the ‘Take a break!’ warning in the display if necessary. This early warning helps improve driving safety.
Modern & intuitive:
the MBUX multimedia system.
The Carthago models on a Mercedes-Benz chassis not only boast an elegant design, but also the latest technology. Perfection, Mercedes style. Equipped with the MBUX (Mercedes-Benz User Experience) multimedia and infotainment system, navigation and DAB+, these motorhomes set new standards in multimedia and connectivity. Firstly – behind the large, high-resolution10.2-inch touchscreen lies a multi-talented system that leaves nothing to be desired. The ‘Mercedes Me’ voice assistant with learning capabilities lets you ask questions or issue vocal commands at any time during your journey, without taking your hands off the wheel. This allows you to select your favourite radio station or conveniently access traffic information, while keeping your eyes safely on the road.
If the system is connected to your smartphone, you have numerous additional options: check the weather at your destination, listen to the news or play your favourite songs. As you can see, a Carthago motorhome on a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis also includes you in its safety concept. Of course, it’s also possible to control the display using the touchscreen or multifunction steering wheel. Top tip: if you create individual profiles, the system can directly apply your preferred settings.
And if reversing safely is also important, the reversing camera system with a single lens and 7″ colour monitor at the side of the dashboard provides excellent rearward visibility. (Monitor not available on C2-tourer models and all T models).
